a discussão terminou uma hora depois, correct?

Not quite.

terminou depois de uma hora = ended after one hour.

terminou uma hora depois = ended one hour later

I tried the same answer and was marked wrong, so I am also wondering...

i thought you could contract "de" and "uma" - so you can't say "duma hora"?

You can, but it is very unusual, and even though it is grammatically correct, many people here will think it is wrong, at least in written speech

is 'a discussao parou depois uma hora' wrong? Can I use parou? I noticed I missed 'de' after depois also, but just wondering if there is a distinction between the many types of 'stopped' Portuguese has! Thanks.
