Just out of curiosity, is the word origin here similar to "pussycat" in English (i.e. most likely a borrowing from a Germanic language)? In any case, thinking of it that way helps me remember it...


the dictionary sais it's onomatopoeic from "pis" (pis pis pis is how you call a cat towards you) ... a lot of romanian words' etymologies are debatable...


they're confusing me now, is the emphasis for pisică on the first or second syllable?
