Why doesn't "Forse loro non mangiano la notra caramella" correct? Candy was caramella so far not caramelle...

is 'forse loro non mangiano la nostra caramelle' correct also?

You'd have to use the singular "caramella", and even then it would raise questions as to how more than one person is going to eat a single candy :) Note that caramella is only used for the stricter sense of small sugar candy, not the broader sense of sweets.
