ありがとうございます! I have a question though. I heard that you can't really express the future tense in Japanese? Do you explain how or why anywhere?

I don't think I do. For the future tense, you just use the dictionary form of the verb, such as 食べる taberu for 'to eat'. It can mean either he/she/it/i/you eat, or he/she/it/i/you will eat. Same for verbs in the formal/polite form such as 食べます
