Annoying bug - scrolling to top of the screen when working on translations

This has just been happening in the past couple of days (using Google Chrome) - when you're translating a sentence that is far down the page, most mouse clicks (such as clicking "submit", "show best translation", rating a translation or even double clicking to select a word) cause the page to auto-scroll back to the top. I think pressing "enter" to submit has the same effect.

I had this happen a lot the other day when translating French and Spanish, and it happened again earlier today when I translated a sentence of this: http://duolingo.com/#/translation/0af6240a6c4c717b91a408f8e1a0422e as part of mastering a lesson. It doesn't seem to happen every time since I didn't get the bug just now when picking a translation via the "Translations" tab.

I'm using Google Chrome. Thanks in advance for the help.

We're trying to look into this guys, but we can't reproduce the problem. Any help you can give us would be appreciated.

Update: We have found the cause of this and will deploy a fix this afternoon. For now, the problem can be solved by refreshing the pace once.

It happens on any mouse click event. I was able to click anywhere on the page and the autoscroll would activate. Maybe a jquery issue. It resolved itself when I force reloaded the skill page.

In my case, it continually happened on a recently added article in which all but two of the sentences were 100% completed. Spanish

does this only happen when you do a translation as part of mastering a skill or also when you come from the "Translations" tab in the top bar?

For me I only noticed it when going from the Translations tab. I had just done previously a lesson which included translations and didn't notice it then. BTW - on a quick test just now (The Bill Gates) article from the Translations tab, the problem did not occur.

I just went directly to the translations tab. I do this occasionally, when I have not progressed to the translations in the lesson. I do this optional translation because I feel I have to earn my keep around here. I have never noticed it within the lesson sections. Spanish

Yesterday it wasn't happening for either reason, but today it is back to the auto-scrolling again, coming from mastering a French lesson (http://duolingo.com/#/skill/fr/Questions). I refreshed the translation page and it stopped.

Agree, it makes translation very unrewarding :) Also happens with space bar... I'm using Firefox 18.0.2 and was translating French. Seemed to happen all the time for me. I've only just returned to the site after a couple of week's break,. This is the first time I've experienced it.

Actually, make that unusable. I went back to try again,.Now, it completey jumps to the top completely hiding the passage being translated. In fact this page is doing it also. As soon as I click inside this edit box after having focus elsewhere there is a scroll to top action.

This has been happening to me too on Firefox when doing the Real Life Translations. Really irritating.

I am getting that problem too. Thought it might just be the IPad. If I keep tapping on the sentence to be translated, or on the dictionary , it seems to scroll up out of the way again .

I experienced the problem this morning and even wanted to record a video of it, but then the problem suddenly ended. Now that I see your comment I can suppose that it happened because I resized the browser window to make the video smaller...

It's happening in French and German this morning using Firefox and Safari. It's almost impossible to use.

I had it happen to me tonight, while earlier today it was fine. All mouse-clicks caused a full scroll back to the top of the page. It happened on my attempts to translate the article on Quebec (ville), navigated to via Translations -> Recently Added. It continued to occur on other articles in French (using the same navigation). I use a little Dell netbook with Firefox 18.0.2. A full refresh of the page corrected it, and the correction carried over to other pages. This page did not suffer the scrolling issue, before or after refresh (I opened it in a new tab via the Discussions in-site tab).
