Rest in peace, my 760 day streak.

I've been going every day since I started on this website. Just forgot to do it yesterday. In a way it's sort of liberating (I could move to another site if I wanted to). But I'm picking myself up and starting again, maybe with a bigger focus on levels and completing trees. Is there much else I can do?

Honestly I think the one advantage of maintaining a streak only really exists if you've already got a large one. I can't use Duo over the weekend, so the highest streak I have gotten in the last half year is five days.

I'd think that the biggest focus you should have is indeed on completing trees and gaining levels. It doesn't matter how many days a row you practice if it isn't quality practice.

Well I don't know, it's better to practice every day, then to practice just a few days a week, even if you practice more on those days.

Well, true, I'll concede on that (morning brain still kinda lingers past early morning), but not using Duo doesn't mean one can't still think in the language and try to piece as much together without a dictionary as possible as practice.

True, true. I guess I just assumed that if you didn't have time for duolingo, you would have time for any other resources (no that wasn't sarcasm)

I am slowly on my way to beating that streak! Hahaha

That's a great streak to have and I am seriously trying to get there. I have made a habit of trying to do a lesson before I get out of bed every morning. I just whip out my phone and it's over before I'm even awake!

In the meantime, I suppose just keep the streak freeze armed?

That's very impressive! It is curious to me that it feels liberating. Maybe it is okay that you now pick yourself up and create the start of a new streak. I see a '1' there already! And it will double tomorrow. This is an amazing journey you're on, such diligence.

Just curious. Why didn't you have a Streak Freeze in place? Then you would have lost only 1 day instead of 760 days.

I think I did, but lost it at some point and didn't realize.

I'm sorry for your loss. I hear rumors that it's possible to buy back your streak with $10

Don't worry, green space Dorito. You won't have to deal with the stress of maintaining the streak, spend more of your time ensuring that you learn.

I am very sorry about your streak. Is there much else I can do? The real question is, What is your objective in Duolingo? Why are you here? Keep on learning and start a new streak.

Streaks are just a number and a way to make people addicted - in Duolingo and elsewhere. So, in my opinion, maintaining a streak is rather a bad thing because it restricts us to a piece of technology. I'm here since 2015 and I lost short and long streaks. I don't care anymore and I feel better so. It gives me more pleasure to see my crowns and levels ^^
