Why "I am looking for a solution" is the correct sentence here?

It's just an accepted answer. In a context, "wyjście" can mean "wyjście (z tej sytuacji)", so "a way out of this situation" and therefore "a solution".

Native speaker. I don't even know what "egress" is! Not quite true, but we never use "egress" in this context, at least not in the UK; it's "the exit" or "the way out".

On another note, "an exit" is quite possible, but we usually look for "the" exit.
