Lost 300 day streak

I've lost my 300 day streak and I don't understand why. I'm sorry to post this here but I don't know where else to ask.

I was away for a long weekend without very good internet connectivity. So, call it geeky, I planned lessons and streak freezes so that I could make it through without loosing my streak. I missed Friday, but I had a streak freeze and then I did a lesson on Saturday and saw confirmation at the end of the lesson, but when I checked today it appears that Saturday's lesson wasn't recorded.

I don't know what happened, but it wasn't a misunderstanding of streak freezes or an issue of time zones. 300 days. I'm so annoyed. Can this be corrected?

If you were using the app with a poor internet connection you would have been able to practice but you should have connected before midnight in order to sync the app with the web site.

Thanks, but I was unable to start the course before I had an internet connection. When I finished I saw the ads so I was sure that I had a connection. I turned the internet off not long after finishing, so perhaps there was a delay before syncing with the web site? Either way, this all happened way before midnight.

I have the exact same problem, but on a 200 day streak.
It is now showing I missed Thursday and Friday, but I didn't miss Thursday. In fact, I made it just under the wire. It says I did NO exercises that day (so it isn't even that I missed the last one under the midnight deadline because then I would have 4 done.) The result was it has now stripped me of my streak for no reason. It's damned annoying.

Yeah, there is something going on. I did my lessons yesterday afternoon and then today's this morning but they are all showing as today and 0 yesterday. The streak freeze did catch it in my case but seems it was not just me where they are failing to be logged on time.

I'm also experiencing the same problem. The web site shows that I have not practiced in the last three days but have three times my normal practice already for today. I think there's a bug on their end.

Same type of problem here except I noticed over the past week and a half or so that after my first completed lesson I would be at 20 XP instead of 10 XP. This would happen randomly off and on. It did happen to me last Friday and as of Saturday my previous day showed that I only had 40 XP instead of 50 XP so my streak was lost. The streak freeze I had didn't prevent it either, I submitted the bug but I do not know how to even begin to get my streak back. Since then out of the past four days, today is the first time it happened again. I have used this application on Android and I haven't had a problem until now. This is very discouraging, I know exactly how everyone feels. You have to have a certain level of dedication to this program and when the time you have spent is stripped from you, it feels like you failed to commit to your daily goals. I lost 681 days of streak, I would love to get it back but I do not know how. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks for your comments. With such a streak to loose I make the effort and do some, even a quick lesson, but now I have nothing to loose, so I feel it will quickly start to slip...

It's not like I was being risky with timing and got unlucky. Is there really nothing that can be done???

Streak freezes don't seem to be working for me either. I lost an 800+ day streak and lost my latest streak again.

I lost my 180+ streak too. I practiced with my mobile phone in this time, but I didn't really check the streak in this time. I also used my phone today already and saw that it does not apperar on the website at all. I tried it again later with my tablet and it worked just fine. I don't know if it is a problem with android, because I had an update on the weekend.

I too lost my Streak of 149 days and lost my Lingots 188. Seems to have occurred with iOS 10.2 update. Any way to get it back? I am destroyed. Just noticed that Lingots are still showing on web site but not on iOS device. Hum... your web site also shows I DID learn new words AND DID complete my session but Streak was broken anyway!! (I screen shot my progress and have proof of completion. I am thinking something is going on with the mobile version?? Thanks for any help to restore my STREAK but take care of the 800 day person first. This is devastating!

I lost my Spanish streak, as well, but got it back by logging onto the Android app (which I used to learn yesterday), completing the day and refreshing the browser on the PC. Only lost my wager in the process. After 3 days it may be too late for you to try this - sorry.

May have discovered the problem... (somewhat lengthy)

iOS and Android support multiple open apps held (paused) in memory. With short attention spans and interruptions, our DuoLingo sessions are often interrupted. OK. Here is the error...

On resuming a DuoLingo session BEFORE completing the three segments, if the app 'switch' (double press home on iOS, Android?) is used, all is fine.

HOWEVER if DuoLingo is re-launched (not switched), the session segment appears to be lost BEFORE it is registered with the DuoLingo server. This means the three segments even though completed will appear to NOT be completed if the DuoLingo application is re-launched instead of switched. These results are repeatable at least on my iOS 10.2 iPhone.

CAUTION: Try this mid-segment, re-launch the app and see, if as with me, your progress is lost and the segment re-initialized!

FIX: Perhaps an update to the DuoLingo server after EACH segment is completed will minimize Streak loss. I am devastated as a 70 year old with medical issues to start over but trying to "Keep my eye on the dough nut, not the hole" -- Press on -- failure is only a state of mind. Nature does not care. Buena suerte!

Yeah, I have given up on having it restored. It has to have been a syncing error, because I noticed that when I looked back, it didn't give me ANY credit for the lessons I did that day. (Although it did at the time when I did them.) So I thought I was safe, didn't think my streak freeze had been used up, and then on the next day when I was sick, it killed the streak. (I hadn't even thought to check.)

So the long, slow grind continues anew.

I lost my 340 day streak in early December. Weeks later I was told I could pay £2.49 to re-instate if I did it within 6 days. Too late for me but I am glad now that it was too late as I have just 'lost' a 12 day streak and been given the same re-instatement offer. This means I could 'lose' my streak at any time and have to constantly pay £2.49. I googled this and realise it is now an issue with many people. My husband lost his Duolingo streak too. I appreciate how great a learning tool Duolingo is, and for free, but I don't like what I see as a rather 'sneaky' way of raising funds. Much better if they kept things as they are but asked for a small fee upfront for those who wanted streaks included?
