What has happened to my German progress?

Yesterday my German tree was all Gold. Today twenty or more different topics have reverted to the status of 'lessons not completed'. Why has my tree gone back to looking like it did months ago?

I know they've made updates to the German tree that have then been A/B tested for a very long time (meaning some users have had the old tree and others have had the new one, and they've checked which group is doing better).

It seems to be from your description they might have given the new, expanded tree to everyone now. This means there's even more to learn and the tree should be better! You'll need to learn those new lessons to regain you're owl, but more content is a good thing.

Edit: Check this post out: https://www.duolingo.com/comment/19691029. So it (strangely) doesn't seem to be the case for all users who had the old tree.

Dec 14, 2016 - Today when I opened my previously gilded German tree, there was a notice indicating an update and expansion of the German lessons. This happened once before for me, and despite my initial dismay at a thoroughly un-gilded tree, the results are excellent. Look at it as a challenge! :-D

" Today twenty or more different topics have reverted to the status of 'lessons not completed " happened with my German tree too.

I think it's because the German tree got updated. At least when I opened the Android app, it said something like "24 lessons were updated.". Looking through the lessons, I'm not sure if anything has changed though so it may be some glitch on Duolingo's side.

I am experiencing the same and had a gilded tree.. It occurred suddenly with 32 lessons being shown as incomplete. I do not see how it could be timing as many of the lessons were recently practiced.

Same happened with me...seems to be a problem for a bunch of people. Anyway to bring this to their attention?

It would be nice to hear from Duolingo on this topic. I do not think it is enough to just been given a summary notice of tree changes without any breakdown about the changes.

I'm pretty sure the German course team posted about the changes in the German forum. Anyone who wants more info would easily be able to look in that forum.

21.12.2017 - My poor Welsh tree seems to be experiencing the same! My Norwegian tree too, though to a much lesser extent (everything's unlocked, it's just saying they're not completed). My Russian tree seems to be fine for some reason: I can strengthen as usual; all of the lessons are coming up as completed and the happy-owl-trophy-thing is still at the bottom of the tree...
