Learn Vietnamese as a Vietnamese Child (1)

As you know, in Duolingo we can't learn Vietnamese as a child but we learn Vietnamese as adult (don't learn some alphabet in Vietnamese). So, today I write this post to help you learn Vietnamese as a child grade 1.

Let's learn Vietnamese's alphabet

This is the Vietnamese alphabet

How do you write Uppercase letter and Normal letter?

How do you read it?

Please listen it: click here

In English, we also spell. Vietnamese do, too. But how to spell in English is different from how to spell in Vietnamese. In this post, we will learn the alphabet and how to spell in Vietnamese.

A word in Vietnamese include 5 type:

consonant + syllable = word.

Ex: Hai, Bốn, Sáu, Tám,...

(The alphabet which I was bold, it's syllable of the word, I will learn it after that.)

consonant + vowel = word

Ex: Ba, Mẹ, Bà,...

syllable = word.

Ex: Ông, Ong, Inh,...

Double consonant + syllable = word.

Ex: Thành (trì), nghênh ngang,...(so little word in this type).

(We will learn it...)

Double consonant + vowel = word.

Ex: Nhà, Nga, Cha,...

[We learned vowel (a, ă, â...) above...]

The post will stop here. Tomorrow I will write Learn Vietnamese as a Vietnamese Child (2) for you. Do you like it and want it? If my post is useful, I will write this post later, and If my post is not useful, I won't write it later and delete it.

Thank you so much for this lesson! :) I LOVED it !! :)

A question. Do some of the syllables have a different pronunciation (are not pronounced the way they are spelled)? :)

Umm, I will example:

syllables: ai

consonant: h

You will spell: a -> i -> ai -> h -> ai -> hai.

Listen how to spell: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMaJsRHXhKU (about the sixth minutes)

Thank you! :) I watched the video. :) I guess my question wasn't clear. :) I don't know whether it is correct to bring a Chinese reference here but since I'm bad at explaining things and there is a similarity between Chinese and Vietnamese, I am going to use this reference. :)

In Mandarin Chinese, there is a concept of tones. The words are pronounced with the tone marks (just like the marks on Vietnamese characters). I was clear about that. :)

My question was whether 'an' and 'ang' were pronounced according to the way they are spelled (i.e.,the pronunciation of a+n = an and the pronunciation of a + n + g = ang). In Mandarin, 'an' is pronounced the way it is spelled, but 'ang' is not pronounced the way it is spelled. Then we have anh. Maybe I'm asking too much, but is there an audio resource that can help me learn the pronunciation of the syllables?

I won't be surprised if my question makes no sense for I don't even know whether these are valid questions and I am able to correctly link with languages or am I confusing things too much.

I visited your profile and saw a text in characters (since I'm not sure about the language, I'll go with characters). Is it Japanese? :) By the way, the image (which taught cursive Vietnamese writing) you embedded in this post appears broken. Please could you fix it? :)

Thank you! :)

An or ang?

EX: an = a ->n->an

EX: ang=a->ng->ang

but when you spell an or ang, they are look like same.

and more: the image (which taught cursive Vietnamese writing) you embedded in this post appears broken.

I don't see it?
