Looks like the Duolingo has lost interest.

I have noticed a number of issues that have happened but tbere has been no response at all.

Two that effect me are:

It is Christmas day and i still can get the bonus questions, either remove the third place holder or put something there.

When they introduced time zones I lost my 285 day streak even though I practiced every day, it wasn't my mistake in this case but Duolingo refuse to acknowledge that.

It's a great product , one of the best available, don't spoil it by dropping the ball.

The Christmas skill is published every year, and then (I believe) those who buy it have access to it throughout the year after that. It was already available this December (for those courses that have it -- not all do), but then it disappeared again from the store, apparently because there was a technical problem with. I write apparently, because I've read it here in Discussions, but neither Duolingo's own search function nor Google can help me find those discussions now.

This, as the time zone thing (Duolingo had a problem with time zones even before they introduced that attempt at handling them), and a gazillion other small issues are not something Duolingo has started messing up with lately.

They've always (or at least the three years I've been on here) been more interested in coming up with and testing new functionalities than fixing the problems with the existing ones. So I don't think it's necessarily anything to do with money -- although they do need to find a way to be sustainable -- it's just their style of doing things.

Do you know if they're ever going to add comments to ios?

They haven't said anything about it, as far as I know. So I kind of doubt that they would do that anytime soon. Which is a real pity! I'm an Android user, and find the sentence discussions both enjoyable and (above all) extremely useful (most of the time).

Here's the thread about the Christmas skills: https://www.duolingo.com/comment/19710275

Apparently they were available for about two days in the lingots store this year before they were withdrawn, although I have seen users say they bought them and it works with no problems.

You can still access the Christmas skill with a direct link, actually... but it won't show up in your tree.

Go to the tree that you want the bonus skill for, click on any other skill, and replace the name of the skill in the url with Christmas. It worked for me, not sure for other trees..

Thank you! Replacing the name in the url worked for me too. It's nice to have the chance to do it, even though, as you say, it doesn't show up in the tree.

We've noticed those numbers of issues as well, but I'm starting to believe that Duolingo "runs at a huge loss" as hughcparker said. There's a whole new system on iOS (Also look here) that will help Duolingo raise money, but I'm not very sure if it's particularly good at keeping users.
