απορία

Hello! As some of you may know, I'm currently working my way through a load of children's books I picked up last time I was in Greece.

So, I've come across this sentence (from Aesop's story about the grasshopper and the ants):

Έφτασε κιόλας το καλοκαίρι, μα τα μυρμήγκια δε σταματούν δουλειές να κάνουν και μ' απορία τον τζίτζικα παρατηρούν... βιολί να παίζει μέχρι τη νύχτα κι ανέμελος να τραγουδά, με το φεγγάρι και με τ' αστέρια να του κρατάνε συντροφιά.

All of which I more or less understand apart from 'να κάνουν και μ' απορία τον τζίτζικα παρατηρούν'.

I can't quite pin down the meaning of απορία - even though I know it's either wonder/question or poverty/destitution - and how it relates to the rest of the sentence. Is it something like 'summer had already arrived, but the ants did not stop working to question the grasshopper'? But if it is that, I can't then understand what the παρατηρούν/'they noticed' is doing at the end of the sentence.

Any help is hugely appreciated!

Να κάνουν is to do. Απορία is wondering. The translation close to the script is the following :The summer has already arrived, but the ants do not stop (working) {or works to do} , and with wonder, the grasshopper are observing, playing violin up to the night, and careless to sing, with the moon and with the stars to keep him company.

'and with wonder' - perfect! That's all clicked into place for me now. Thank you so much!

That's funny because I thought that you entitled your post 'Question'..! I had to read the text to see that this was the question!

As djthomassummer mentions, απορία is translated as wonder(ing) most accurately, but especially in a learning environment, you have απορίες!

I thought I'd try and be a bit more specific than another 'help needed' post! Thanks again for all your help.
