ICELANDIC WORD OF THE WEEK: WEEK #1
Góðan daginn, ég heiti Austin. Good day everyone, I am Austin. Each week, I see Super-Svensk's Swedish Word of the Week and now amyharryhollie's Spanish Word of the Week. I felt that the idea was a great way to introduce new vocabulary to learners and spread awareness about a certain language. Therefore, each Wednesday, I will post an 'Icelandic Word of the Week'.
- Beginning, start
Great! Especially since there's no Icelandic course yet. I hope it will be in the future though. By the way, the word byrjun is quite similar to the Swedish word början, which also means beginning.
Thanks! Byrjun comes from the verb byrja (to begin, start) + -un. Byrja is very similar to the Swedish börja (to begin)!
Oh, this is a great idea! Icelandic is a such a cool language and I am looking forward to learning one new word each week. Are you a native speaker?
