"Lămâia este pe farfurie."

Translation:The lemon is on the plate.

December 29, 2016

Why does the word farfurie end with an E here and not an A? Isn't the translation for 'the plate' spelt: farfuria?

In Romanian we can say something that in English would not be valid: The lemon is on plate. as if it's on a some plate, not a specific one to make it the plate, but neither any plate to make it a plate.

But we do this in other cases like I get in the bus. = Mă urc în autobuz. (instead of autobuzul).

Thank you for your explanation!

I was wondering the same thing and couldn't find an explanation for it in the forums here before.
