Could someone please explain me this translation? "autant que" means "as far/much/many as" according to my dictionary, so how did this come about?

You are right, depending on context, "autant que" can mean several things.

  • J'aime les fraises, autant que toi = I love strawberries, as much as you: this adverbial phrase is comparative
  • Si...., autant que + subjunctive = If..., it may as well be...: this is a conjunctive phrase, introducing a subordinate sentence.
