Why are we learning the past tense of this verb when we haven't learned the present tense yet?
Um, not sure where you found this sentence, but Past 1 is after Present 1, 2 , and 3. Where did you find this?

It reminds me more of the Samotracian "Nike" (and consequently the famous sport brand)
Of course, that's where the sport brand got its name. "Nike" means "victory/win" and of course sports are all about winning.
Isn't ' he had won ' acceptable , because it seems more in the past than this answer , which to me could suggest the here and now .
