cũng and cùng

Can anyone* help me understand this please?

cũng = "also" I ate ice cream and Tony also ate ice cream:

Tôi ăn kem và Tony cũng ăn kem.

cùng = "Together/with/(at the same time as??) I ate ice cream with Tony.

Tôi và Tony cùng ăn kem. or Tôi và Tony ăn kem cùng nhau.

Is that right? Is there a better/clearer translation of the phrase?

and what about "đều" ?

*ngươi nào.... Is that "anyone" or "everyone"

Cheers in advance!

"cũng as in "Tôi ăn kem và Tony cũng ăn kem. " - correct translation

"cùng", "cùng nhau", "với nhau", "cùng với nhau" all can be used. "Tôi và Tony cùng nhau ăn kem", "Tôi và Tony cùng ăn kem với nhau" or "Tôi và Tony ăn kem với nhau/ cùng nhau". All the translation are the same.

"everyone" = "mọi người"

"anyone" = "bất cứ ai / bất kỳ ai"

I don't understand your question of "đều", could you put the word in a context?

Hello there, for your question:

"Can anyone help me understand this please?", it would be translated "Ai đó (more formal than "người nào") có thể giúp tôi hiểu điều này không?"

"Can everyone help me understand this please?", it would be translated "Mọi người có thể giúp tôi hiểu điều này không?"

All of your translations are good.

About "đều", this has two main meanings:

First one is two or more things are the same (about quality, quantity, composition, etc,...). For example: You like ice cream, Tony also likes ice cream, so you and Tony like ice cream ( Bạn và Tony đều thích kem.)

Second one is you do something regularly. For example: You regularly go to work at 8 o'clock every morning (yeah except Sundays, of course :p) - Mỗi buổi sáng bạn đều đi làm vào lúc 8 giờ.

In this case, it doesn't mean that I and Tony eat together. It just carries the fact that I and Tony both eat ice cream. "đều" has different meaning as an adjective or adverb

even > "Chia miếng bánh thành 4 phần đều nhau" - "Devide the cake into 4 equal parts"

regularly > "Tôi đi học đều." - "I go to school regularly."

equally > "Cả hai chị em đều học giỏi." - "Both sisters are equally good at learning."

Hope this help.

I think "Tôi ăn kem cùng Tony" is a better translation.
