"Мене називають Линда." & "Моє ім'я є Линда." should also be accepted.

Never. You say nonsense. Linda is Лінда, not Линда. Мене називають is something like "They call me The Hawkeye (while my name is Bobby)" Don't put є after "моє ім'я".

I am not at all Ukrainian, but went to a Ukrainian grammar (primary) school, and we had Ukrainian lessons every day. In first grade they taught us to say, “my name is,” as «Я називаюся». So, this whole мене звуть thing confused me, but now I think they just wanted us to learn a lot of letters in one word!
