Too many requests
It is happening all over the time, especially here in the forum. No images, no colors, just this sad message.
Are you running any userscripts?
I got this message several times last August along with a few other users and we were told it was likely a userscript. Sometimes it would take hours before I was able to get back on.
I haven't had the problem again since I disabled the Stats script. I've actually disabled all of them except the lingot giver and the language switcher but I think it was the stats that was the problem.
Yes! I am developing a new one to hide sticky posts. Thanks for your help, I found the error, it was in the script!
Could you post the part of your script that caused the error. Maybe I could find the error in the stats script. I shortly reactivated it and got the error again. Thanks
The core of my script has only 3 lines. The rest is the part to inject the whole thing. It takes all posts with the class name 'sticky-discussion-message' and apply a CSS style "display: none" to their "li" parent elements. I was using a 'for.. in' to interact with document.getElementsByClassName, witch was wrong because it was interacting with properties of the DOM elements too, and this bring me to a eternal loop... I think the loop had called server to request and load more and more comments until the server thinked I am a spammer. I can not post my old and faulty script because I already deleted it. The working one is in the other topic.
Sorry for my english, I am a student here too. kkk
Thanks, so i'll check the for loops, as it apparently results from a repeated action.
I had that problem then, too. I lost a 186-day streak because I could not get logged in for over 24 hours. I was pretty frustrated. I don't use any userscripts now.
Usually it was 15 minutes to a couple of hours. But it got stuck once for a day and a half or maybe even longer. Ugh.
I must have left a window up with Duolingo (and a user script) in it or something.
More than likely, it means that this person keeps getting a "Too many requests" error message whey they try to go to a different page on the site.
I thought so. You'll probably have better luck getting an answer if you move your discussion to the Troubleshooting Forum.
Since you're asking for help using the site, could you move this post to the Troubleshooting forum? Your post is likely to get a lot more attention there, because that's where the people who are willing to help with this sort of problem hang out. It will also help keep this forum easy to navigate for those who aren't part of the troubleshooting group.
Don't delete it and create a new one, just click edit, and change the topic from Duolingo to Troubleshooting. Here's a guide on how to move a post: https://www.duolingo.com/comment/16609773.
