New Irish Club! Please join - I hope to get 15 duolinguists to sign up
Hey fellow duolinguists! I am looking for 15 people passionate about learning Irish to join me in my new club, the code to join is:
Ideally, we would be a group of superusers who each want to do at least 3-5 sessions (30-50 XP) each day. Join me
I am loving all of the wonderful competitive spirit and participation so far. Hoping everyone is enjoying the contest of sorts as much as I am!
I just wish I could figure out: 1. How to send messages to members from within the club page 2. How to set up lingot rewards for winners of each week's contest. Not sure if that is motivating or not, but I was thinking 10 lingots for #1, 5 for #2, and 1 for #3...
I love it as well, even Seanchai35 is there (M), she's on power-saving right now, don't think her... um, not-dedicated!
Who is this Celine? (The username isn't shown.) (Show yourself, ma'am!)
Also the others, but this one especially been up and kicking!
1 No way yet! (A little too... renders the club a little useless, I know)
2 No way, unless you state it here and hope everyone sees it, which is unlikely! Or you have to have all the usernames and comment on their profiles. I have more lingots than you, and I could do it as well, or we could do it together.
Hi! I speak pretty good Irish - at least when I'm in practice! I'm investigating Duolingo as an option for some learners I'm helping. I'd like to join your club - mainly to see how it works but I'll contribute as much as I can. Best wishes.
Great participation so far! I am walking a fine line between doing too many lessons in Irish each day to allow those who just joined and keeping the competitive spirit going.
Ideally it would be fun to see who can accrue the most XP points in Irish in a month, but I'm not sure if the system keeps track of this.
I am also thinking about providing lingots to each week's winner in XP points, but I'm not sure anyone is motivated much by that. Lingots don't buy much except for allowing you to take practice exams in a language for 25 points.
i'm willing. are you the Benny who blogs on language learning?
I did try it last year. He mostly focus on practicing talking. Due to some personal issue, i did not continue is course, but that was a good aproach i believe. And i am sorry for my bad english, i am a french speaker from Québec.
sorry not offhand but i suggest trying some duolingo learners groups on facebook and see who has a good group going. People post there all the time....for Russian i suggest you try mylanguageexchange.com I met some nice people on there who want to exchange russian/english.
If you're using the phone app, you click on the club icon (looks like a shield) at the bottom of the screen, after selecting Irish. Then it should ask you if you want to create a new club or join an existing one. Click join and enter in the password.
I'm not sure about it if you're using the desktop version, I rarely use a desktop anymore. But I think it might not be available at all on anything but either an iPhone or Android phone, just browsing discussion topics on Clubs. It looks like a feature they just recently added, they may be changing or adding to it soon.
I finally finished the tree for the second time! I'm back to all gold after letting it slide. The club motivated me to put in more time.
