Changing classroom teacher

Reposting this under Educators. Found out this is not possible to do but maybe in the future Duolingo would consider allowing this?

Hi All,

I made a classroom for my homeschool co-op Spanish 1 class but due to unforseen circumstances I can no longer teach the class. I'd like to be able to have the new teacher assign homework. I'm assuming this isn't possible if I just "share" the classroom with her. How do I work around this? I saw you can switch students to a different class. Does she need to create her own class under her name and then I move the students to her class? Will they lose their current progress if we do it this way? Thanks so much!

You can't move the class from one teacher to another, sadly. Perhaps if you move this post to the Educators forum this post will be taken as a feature request - there's a member of Duolingo staff who keeps an eye on that forum.

Students can be members of more than one class, though. If the other teacher creates a classroom and gives the students the join code, the new teacher will be able to see the students' progress.

That's a great question. The people down voting are obviously experts on the topic. Sadly, no, you can't do that.

Hi Cheryl! She will need to create her own Schools classroom and the students will have to join that. We are taking note of feedback and of course some things get prioritized over others, but they are always worth sharing and discussing so we can get an idea of how much interest and impact that change would have. The students will not lose any progress in their language course, they will simply be allowing an additional person to follow their account.
