How to setup multiple accounts (I have 2 kids)

How do I setup multiple accounts? I have two kids & even if I have two very different user names it won't let me set them up because I only have one email address!

Surely other families have more than one child, how are people doing it? What am I missing? Please help.

Getting additional email addresses should not be that much of a problem. Your children will need them sooner or later anyway, so why not create them now?

True.

I guess it depends on the age of the child. My kids were always "supervised" on the home computer as it was located in a central position of the living room /dining room / kitchen (we live in a flat) and that was when the internet was fairly tame. I would definitely surpervise young kids in this day and age.

I never wrote anything about not supervising them, did I?

Supervision includes all emails coming through a central address, ie the parents'.

The other commenter is right, just make the 2nd email :). If there is some odd reason why you can't then you can use disposable email services to make Duo accounts.

Such as: https://www.guerrillamail.com/

Problem is you won't be able to reset the password if you forget the email adress used. Also you will not benefit from any of the email features like alerts.

Easy, use the email you have and do this:

Example email:

duolingoexample@duolingo.com

For your children, do this:

For one, do:

duolingoexample+duofriends1@duolingo.com

For the other do:

duolingoexample+duofanart131@duolingo.com

Do u get the idea?

Careful!
This only works for certain email providers (such as gmail). With other, this will lead to errors.

Thank you for the suggestion of a second email, however - firstly my 2 children are quite young and I want to be able to monitor everything! I also wanted to participate too, so actually I would need 3 email accounts in total. Besides, my email won't allow me to do as krpw1204 mentions (but I do thank you for the suggestion krpw1204).

Secondly, that would mean that every single time each one of my children wants to go on the app they would have to make sure they logout (young kids don't remember these things! And both of them are very competitive so they'd get pissed if one went on the others account - for those of you that have kids or siblings....you know what I mean!).

I am just so darn surprised that Duolingo does not have a simple function to have multiple accounts on one app or website account!? Every other app we have has that option.

Does Duolingo monitor these chats? They have not replied to my help question.

I agree, it's surprising and it would be nice to have the option of multiple users under the same email address!

That is possible for parents

Although the main Duolingo website does not have parental controls, we do offer it for teachers and parents via Duolingo for Schools (also free and you don't even need a new account — just use your Duolingo account) .........

Thank you for the information. I am glad that Duo has some ability to make this happen. I just created a classroom for my kids. I have to say that without actually using it yet, this seems extremely cumbersome. Why not just allow people to have more than one user profile under the same account?
