Who'd like some lingots?

Hi everybody,
I decided to give my lingots to anybody who'd like to have some.
I started duolingo with Greek in October and I had a 70+ day streak, which is gone now. Might be a technical issue with duo (as they say) or because I forgot to freeze streaks because I'm quite ill these days. Anyway, having a nice streak was nice in the beginning because I knew that in my busy life I could have easily postponed the course to the other day, forever. In trying to keep up with the streak I often did the course after 11.30 p.m. Now I realized that I had been avoiding to strengthen lessons just because it took longer than starting a new unit. (Thus I have just a few lessons left but I'm at level 13 with lots of holes in the strength bars!)
I now trust myself that I will go on. I love being able to understand the Greek songs and the Greek logic behind some English words. I will not rush any more for the sake of the streak and I don't need the lingots that I used basically to streak freeze once a week.
I hope my lingots will encourage you, just comment and I'll pass some to you until they're all gone :)

Hi new here...im just ignoring the lingots as want to learn at a pace not rushing. As dont want to rush. i know sounds ignorant as new to this duolingo...how do they make money out of this by buying lingots? Anyway pretty ashamed my late Dad never put me in Greek school despite being Greek. I think thiz may prove the best medium for me to learn Greek if dedicate myself....good luck to all and happy fun learning to all

Hello Konstantin,
lingots don't ahve anything to do with actual money, they are likened to money just because they allow you to do things. when you complete a unit or a certain time studying in a course you earn lingots (2 lingots for a unit, for example). and then ypou can use your accumulated lingots to take exams (25 lingots) or freeze the number of days you have been doing the course (streak freeze 10 lingots). It is motivating for some of us to say "I have been studyig in duolingo everyday for 90 days, etc. İf you go to "lingot store" you can read more about what you can do with them. I'll give you some now, enjoy :)

Thanks :) Yes it's over now. To follow a person you click on her name and then click follow on her profile. But there is no personal convo system as far as I know. You just see how others are progressing when you add them as friends. We use the discussion threads for all questions.

Here you have 30 lingots, I guess this is enough to learning flirting in Spanish. By the way I also bought those funny skills for spanish, things like "did it hurt to fall from the sky," definitely wouldn't work for me ;)
and also, when I offered to give lingots here, I had about 100+ of them. then they increased to 300+ lingots overnight. I have no idea how and why!
