A bientôt

Looking forward to Swahili and Czech for English! :)

January 23, 2017

The PT/FR update translates as:

First of all, happy new year 2017, as well as to your loved ones.

I come bearing news of the course's progress. It's still being verified by Duolingo, and it's been a month. Our team no longer has control until they come back to us (the beta release date is given above...). Usually this phase lasts around a month, so we're almost done. We will keep you up to date.

Also, the link for "Team PT for FR" above the update is wrong, Jiten. It should be

January 23, 2017

Thanks, fr224. Fixed.

January 23, 2017

I thought I read somewhere that there was supposed to be a major Hindi update in December or January? Either way, thank you for the updates and for your contribution to Duolingo!

January 24, 2017

Thank you jitengore. Go Team English for Bengali!

January 23, 2017

What's happening with Indonesian? Why is it going down?

January 24, 2017

Negative progress is still progress. Change in percentage means it's being worked on.

January 25, 2017

It means they are adding more words overall, which makes the percentage of completed words temporarily go down. It's a good sign in the long run.

January 26, 2017

Yay Portuguese for French and English for Bengali! Keep up the good work everyone. Thank you for this jitengore!

January 23, 2017

The Czech update says 81 but there is still 79% in the table.

January 23, 2017

Corrected. Thanks widle!

January 23, 2017

Enjoying the fourth place display, thanks :-)

Now if only we could hurry it all up and make room for, say, widle's Finnish, or another gift to the English base. (My personal hope would be Slovak, a little easier and IMO more euphonic than Czech.)

January 23, 2017

Under construction...

January 23, 2017

That was more of an oversight! But thanks for coming to my rescue :)

January 23, 2017

Dear readers,

Apologies! I was on work related travel last week and my optimistic self had thought that I will be able to create my post before leaving - but I could not do that! :(

Today's (bi)weekly edition will be coming later today. Please stay tuned.

February 5, 2017

Is there going to be a Hindi update? Please :(

February 5, 2017

February 5, 2017

I guess Hindi is not going to launch the 26th? Come on Team keep going! You are empowering the people!

January 23, 2017

A slower week. I suppose it happens sometimes though. Nice to see progress even if it isn't much.

January 23, 2017

It's kind of sad how low the bar has sunk, we're now considering 0,5% a good week. The last time we had more than 1% of progress was in February.

January 23, 2017

Maybe this ongoing slow progress is a cue that it is time to add some other languages with potentially more enthusiastic contributors? Like, I don't know, maybe Finnish?

January 23, 2017

Back then, English for Thai was at 98%. It's moved 1% in almos a year. That's slow progress!

January 26, 2017

Similarly Hindi was at 26% (up 2%) and Yiddish at 8% (up 1%). Like you said, that's slow. But I heard from another forum user that Thai is finished and the team has been waiting for the staff to do their thing, probably no longer than a month or two though.

January 26, 2017

Seems Swahili hasn't made any progress :(

January 23, 2017

The Swahili team report the percentage progress themselves and only do so when a substantial amount of progress has been made; the percentage typically stays the same for a long time and then jumps a large amount, but this reflects how they report progress rather than the rate of progress itself.

January 23, 2017

Still, there hasn't even been a "we're alive" post in two months. When last we saw our merry band of course creators, they thought they were close to getting a studio to record the words. Of course, they've got Peace Corps activities going on and they don't owe us an update, but I'm starting to think it will be at least March before the course comes out.

Not that it matters. Pole pole, etc.

January 23, 2017

They are still looking for a place to record the audio

January 27, 2017

Sucks. Hope they find somewhere soon, it must be frustrating for them.

You're an alpha tester, yes? How's the rest of the course looking?

January 27, 2017

Yes, it has some errors but that's what alpha testing is for :p It's looking good so far, I'm going to try to finish the tree some time soon. The tips and notes on that course are amazing!!

January 27, 2017

I'll be posting an update today or tomorrow - we are indeed waiting on figuring out recording studio things, which has been the biggest obstacle!

January 28, 2017

@BrandenRyan Hurray! I am thrilled to hear that Swahili is still actively being worked on!

January 30, 2017

Thanks. I actually didn't know that. Glad to hear!

January 23, 2017

The link to last week's post takes me two weeks back.

January 23, 2017

Oops! Fixed that now.

February 5, 2017

I wasn't much thinking about it, but until Swahili is ready, it'll be PTFR. It never occurred to me that I'd be able to ladder from a language (French Spanish), but Duo opened up a whole world! Huge thanks :) p.s. 1st post with "25" next to Spanish, estoy super happy!

January 27, 2017

It seems to me that the Previous Update link leads to a wrong WIU (Dec 18th to Jan 8th instead of the indicated Jan 8th to Jan 15th). Can someone confirm if this is the case for others?

January 27, 2017

Thank you so much for the difficult work you are doing on the Hindi for English course. I know many people are impatient, which must make it feel like a thankless job. Please know that your effort is truly appreciated. I am very anxious to learn Hindi on Duolingo, but I know that creating the course is a long process that shouldn't be rushed. Thanks again!

February 6, 2017

Jiten Gore can you please let other people contribute to Hindi coarse and other coarse too so they can be done quicker. I have requested and filled out a form on incubator too.
