What about "Es befindet sich kein Bahnhof im Dorf?"

It's fine. Although both translations are a little bumpy. One would probably rather say something like: Es gibt im Dorf keinen Bahnhof.

I typed "Kein Bahnhof befindet sich im Dorf," and it was accepted. But is this uncommon as well?

It's grammatically correct. But it somehow says: There is "not even" a train station.
