In "Materials" Module (Lesson 1), DL lists "ξύλινο" (instead of "ξύλο") for the definition of "wood". My sources say "ξύλο" is the correct translation. Is "ξύλινο" some type of wooden product; e.g., cabinet, wooden ____?

G'day Lng52,

You're referring to the sentence towards the end - Το ξύλινο παιχνίδι - right?

What's going on here is that ξύλο is the noun for wood.

ξύλινος (and ξύλινο, ξύλινη) is the adjective for wooden; something made from wood.

παιχνίδι is a neuter noun, hence we use ξύλινο in front of it.

Hope that helps!

As spdl79 said, ξύλο is the noun, ξύλινο is the adjective. An object can either be από ξύλο (made of wood) or ξύλινο (wooden). Ξύλο all by itself, refers to the actual material. ^.^
