I wrote "do you know where is the south" and it refused it, it should be added

No -- that's not the correct word order in English for an indirect question.

We say: Where is the south? but Do you know where the south is?

And "do you know where south is?"

I second this. In English, if we include the article "the" and say "Do you know where the South is?", then "South" would be capitalized and it would imply a specific southern region (e.g. "the southern part of the United States"). I am assuming that the question in Greek is asking if the person knows which direction is south, so I wrote "do you know where south is" and it was marked incorrect. I reported it- 4/19/2017

"do you know where is south?" isn't accepted. May we include it?

No; that is not the correct word order in English.

I'm a native speaker - it's fine.

Where are you from?

Also, out of curiosity, would you also use question word order in other indirect questions, e.g. "I know what are you eating." or "I know where does he live." ?

Or. Do you know where is the south?
