Running out of health
i keep getting message saying I have run out of health and can't continue for 5-6 hours when I get more health. I also get the option to buy more health for $6.99. This happens every time I try to use it after about 5 min. I guess there are two things I want to know. I thought Duolingo was free and if I payed the $6.99 would that be the end of it or will I keep being asked for additional money. I really find this very annoying
60 lingots for a streak freeze? That is ridiculous.
On my web version it costs 10 lingots.
I've seen a few posts like this and I believe it's an option that's being tested. I believe the arrangement is that you have to keep paying, although I'm not sure how often.
Regardless, this would put Duolingo on the same level as Memrise or Mondly, where you get very limited access, basically trial access, for free, but have to pay for anything more than that.
I have deleted the app and will never use it again as this stupid health thing is really annoying and it's normal to have mistakes in my first time to try a new language, and i'm sure most of the people will do the same, thanks to software update who corrupted the program (Y)
I paid the annual fee for this app. I am annoyed if i must pay for anything else. I am not happy with this arrangement. It was not disclosed or explained at purchasing time.
This is an AB test that is unfortunately pretty awful to a great many people. You lose health upon getting questions wrong. If you want to circumvent this, you will have to keep making accounts until you get one without the health test. =/
Isn't that the most pathetic, stupid and demotivating thing out? It's just done that to me - why the hell should he Duolingo Police dictate which lessons I do when? Not only did they take away the Golden Owl that I got ages ago for German by suddenly adding a whole load of lessons, now they deliberately try to stop me practising the lesson that I want to practice - its ridiculous! Bloody annoying - I lost the lesson I was working on and had to move to another device to start again. Honestly what is the point - you are supposed to enjoy learning not get asked for money every bloody five minutes! Carry on doing everything you can to make people hate Duolingo why don't you!
I bought Duolingo Plus. For $12.99 per month, plus the revenue they get from advertising sponsors, they ought to get enough money. Do you recommend I cancel my Plus subscription?
Try the mobile Android app, and if you are lucky, you won't get health (they may also beta test this plattform, so there is a little chance that your account could be switched). Currently I do NOT have health/gems on Android.
Why don't you stick to DuoLingo web portal?
No costs, no health, no gems.
And if you install Camilo's user script "DuoLingo tree enhancer" you will even get Spanish audio for EN-ESP translation answers (on the right side) for your forward course.
True, it is much more typing, you will do much more errors, web is more difficult and more intense....but you will definitely profit from it in the long-term! The app is just too easy, to be honest. You would have to learn twice or at least do all the reviews on the web with typing instead of tapping and guessing.
I repeat: There are not ANY costs on the web and you can do as many learning and reviewing sessions as you like!!!
Quite often it does not make sense to learn multiple skills per day, as one skill could already have 7 words x 10 lessons: 70 words in total
I'm having the same situation. Love the program, only missed one and zam, I need to come up with 450. Hum, what does that mean?
