Hi, you may have missed the notes section for Wanting 3? It gives you all the conjugations for the verb 'to be' and so 'Mae hi' is the 'she is' form of the verb. Hope that helps? Strictly the sentence translates as 'she is wanting rice' ...... except that sounds clunky in English! :)
