Duolingo Android App Has Stopped Working Correctly
I have been using the app on my phone for a long long time (check my streak) but for the past few days, every time I load the app, it will just sit and spin and eventually say it can't connect. The app loads the the tree but if you try to enter a lesson or practice, or the Store, thats when it says it cant connect. Its not my phone or data connection, everything else on my phone works as normal, its only Duo. It only started doing this recently. Is anyone else experiencing this behavior? Is it a known issue?
Thanks in advance CR
Can you open and do lessons on the installed browser? If so then I would delete the app and then reinstall it from the app store.
I'll try reinstalling. My phone hardware is outdated and I cant update the OS to something newer without getting a new phone I am basically screwed. This happened with "Reddit Is Fun" (can read but no longer post) and Chase mobile app stopped working months ago. -thanks
I have the same experience. Could it have to do with the android version? I have sent a bug report, I know it is mostly for statistics, but if enough are filed, it might trigger some kind of response?
This is happening to me now, I am making very slow progress in my account. Both on the browser and on the mobile app. Even on my pc browser. Lessons load for a long time and I have to load maybe three times to launch a lesson. Then when done my progress is not saved and I don't earn any XP for that lesson. I was making a steady progress through the spanish lesson but now I'm stuck with this issue for almost three weeks.
Ok, but I'm afraid of losing my spot where I left off, how it kept track of the amount of lessons I completed on each individual topic.
Having the same issue here. It says it is having trouble connecting and check my internet connection. I already tried reinstalling and still does not work.
I have the same problem. I hoped Duo Team would have done something, but the app doesn't load!!!! i think is a known issue, it also happened before, about a mounth ago....
I am having the same problem. I just tried re-installing but it doesn't work. I tried on WiFi connection and it doesn't work. I still get the message that "Duolingo is having connection problems, check your connection or try again later". I have been trying for a week. Other Apps work fine. What should we do?
Not sure, I didnt bother reinstalling based on what I read in this thread it doesnt help. For now I am just using the website each day to keep my streak going. I hope they fix it soon. Buena suerte.
So do I! Is your google play services app updated? I had some issues with other apps and they "blamed" the out of date google play app ( I cannot update all out of space is the message, but I think it is no longer supported on 2.3.4? see link below).
I also have an old phone, that works just fine for me. But it seems like we are all forced into this evil spiral of updates, upgrades and waste production. http://www.androidauthority.com/google-play-services-ends-gingerbread-730764/ --
Hey CR. Same behavior here. I have a 103 day streak at 50 XP that this app is threatening to break. I borrowed a friend's notebook for a few minutes to post this hoping a would see a solution. I have downloaded most of the course. I think the downloads have something to do with the problem. And now if I open a study section it starts downloading automatically without me clicking the download icon.
I've had a similar problem since the latest update, basically after 4/5 questions the screen goes blank and goes back to the app logo....any suggestions?
Same thing basically on my iPad- it refuses to load and continually says a problem occurred. Everything else works normally.
I am having the same issue. I uninstalled on my samsung s9+ and reinstalled and it's still not working. I have restarted my phone as well. Any other suggestions are appreciated.
Debbiel, did you solve this? I'm having the same problem suddenly with not that new of an android phone. I did try re-starting phone. thanks,
No. I even reinstalled the app and it was still a problem. Sometimes when I start it, I open up another screen to check my email and then I'll hear it start and I'll pop back over. It's about a 50/50 shot with that 'solution'.
Ag. Bad news. But thanks for answering. That kind of kills the value of the product. Quick lessons on the fly don't work. My phone is more than 3 years old. Do you suppose Duolingo isn't supporting updates for older technology?
My phone is only 6 months old, so I'm not sure why its happening. I'm on a Samsung galaxy 9+.
i have combed the internet for a way to contact them directly about this but I can't find a way. Super frustrating. I'm switching to my computer but obviously that limits me to a. when I'm home and b. when I'm at my desk, instead of waiting room, lunch hour at work, etc.
I had filled out a bug report. Maybe the more people that do, they will take a look? https://support.duolingo.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
