Unable to progress

In French 1 I've attempted the first shortcut, completed lesson 1 of "basics" and tested out of basics multiple times. Whether I pass or fail, no progress is recorded. I still have 3 attempts on shortcuts, and I still have 0 skill points despite completing lessons. I'm simply redirected to the home screen upon completion. I've used both firefox and chrome after reading that others have had similar issues with internet explorer. What else can I do?

I cannot move forward in Italian. I've completed and tested out of the "Formal You" lesson many times. Most times, nothing happens. Occasionally, it will show I mastered the lesson and enable the link for the next two, but when I select either of those, the course will not load. Then I return to the home screen and the courses have gone back to being disabled. Very frustrating. I mostly connect through my iPhone, but I've tried on my PC too via Internet Explorer. Same problem w/ both. How can I get past this?

I use a wireless connection to my dorm's network in northern Ohio. I've also tried my father's and girlfriend's grandfather's wireless connections in their homees in central Ohio.

An update; I used tried using an iphone and an alternate account, but none of the progress registers. My girlfriend made an account for Italian and she is experiencing the same problem.

sorry, but i cannot move forward nor in spanish, nor in german. i finished all tests available for me, but nothing happened with my skills, points or so. is it a bug or have i missed something? edited: i clicked on the "stream" and i've found my history there with the earned points and achievements. but they cannot be seen in the skill tree and i can't move forward. i can repeat the tasks by clicking the icons on the "stream" but nothing else.

Last night, I also used internet explorer and opera to attempt the lessons. At the time, I was being redirected to the home page as always, but this morning I found the first lesson was completed. I'm not sure why, though.

Hey Laiika, I looked into this. I did lesson 2 (in chrome) for you and everything works fine. Do you have browser extensions installed or maybe anti-filtering software?

I've got adblock plus, but I have this domain white-listed, so it's disabled. Besides, if adblock was the problem, opera, which I had just downloaded, should have been fine. I just tried to test out of basics, and the problem persists. Just to be sure, I'll give opera another go. Thanks for helping me with this.

I can not move forward in spanish. The interface is flawed. They need a NEXT button or perhaps a picture of a monkey pushing the correct button to move forward.

everything is fine with your account as well, you need to do more lessons in "Food" to unlock the next skill.

That i what i gather by looking at the picture. However, when i press the food picture i get a list of words. When i press the words animals come up. The words balloon happens to hall over the animals icon. So... When i try to access food, i get animals. I really like the lessons but i am afraid the interface will not allow me to easily move ahead. In fact i cant move ahead now.

I am using an iPad. I pressed and held the food icon. I then selected to open in a new tab. Food opened in the new tab. I was able to move on but still maintain there is something wrong there...

I'm also having trouble progressing in Portuguese. I tried completing Lesson 1 many times on my iPhone and laptop. On the app I would get to the completion screen but none of my progress would save. On my computer it wouldn't even progress past the last question, just continue loading indefinitely. Then all of a sudden I logged in and Lesson 1 progress had been saved, but when I attempted Lesson 2 the same thing happened! I can't even test out of the first set of lessons. I've deleted and redownloaded the app and my internet connection/firewall settings aren't the problem. Any idea what could be causing this?

Happens to me too. Program seems to hang after completing all twenty questions of a review. It's happened eight times over the past few months, usually intermittently, but just now twice in a row. MacBookPro, OS 10.7, Safari 6.0.5, FIOS home connection, no anti-malware software installed.

I know how difficult it is to find and fix intermittent problems and really appreciate your efforts to make this a great learning tool.

My problem is that after I complete all parts of a lesson, or strengthen the skill, and it says "Skill is full strength" or something, the only way I can get back to the list of lessons to move to the next one is to click the language flag at the top, and then selecting the same language in the drop-down list. It seems there should be a short cut key or button from the lesson screen back to the lessons list. This is the worst navigation problem I've found on the Duolingo site for computers.

I used to learn Italian, German, Spanish at the same time. There was a period of time I couldn’t access Duolingo. Coming back to the app, I can’t make any progress beyond where I stopped. The app doesn’t open following after what I had gone through, lessons. It’s very inconvenient. Please fix it. Thank you

this is so fricken annoying, happens a few times a month to me so I just give up for a few days then go back to it and it works again. Lucky I dont care about streaks etc but this must really mess with people who are trying to maintain progress every day
