My Spanish speaking skills are quickly fading, so I've joined DL!
Hello Everyone! I am new to the DL community. After I have been recently accused on more than a handful of occasions that I "know Spanish, just refuse to speak it," I have decided it is time to do something about my foreign language speaking paralysis.
I have been feeling pretty crummy because I am very self-conscious when it comes to speaking Spanish in front of others. I can understand probably about 90% of conversations in Spanish, but for the life of me cannot bring myself to speak it. My son is in a Spanish dual-immersion school, so I know and appreciate the gift of language.
Anyhoo, my goal is to be able to SPEAK without feeling as if I am not allowed to mess up. If you could please follow me and help me along in my journey, I would appreciate it!
Hi nicky176! Well, I would love to follow you, but I don't usually follow many people. However, I'll definitely support you in learning Spanish as I learn myself! Sorry, but I hope you can take my encouragement into consideration! :)
That is just something you have to get over. It is a common feeling for language learners. I find most people are appreciative that you are learning their language, and will gently help you with errors. The only way to get better is to practice, practice, then practice some more.
