Supplementing Duolingo -- Hebrew Roots and Etymology

Hi all,

I'm loving Duolingo for practice, but looking to supplement it with something a bit more explanatory. I have a great book called Ha-Yesod that I'm using to learn grammar a bit better, and I also have a book of Biblical Hebrew grammar (I'm interested in both biblical and modern Hebrew).

However, I'm wondering if anyone can direct me to a resource that's a bit more focused on roots and etymologies of modern Hebrew words. For instance, once I learned that מכונה was coined by analogy with the word "machine," it made it much easier for me to remember it, and seeing the connection between צבאי (military) and the word צבאות from my prayers likewise really helped that click for me. I'm looking for a resource that would give me information like this about lots of words. Also, any resources for verb roots would be really helpful. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks! :)

Wiktionary is an excellent multi-lingual dictionary. I haven't studied Hebrew, but Wiktionary is good for etymologies in Spanish, Polish, and Italian.
