I have been interested in the Italian language since my first holiday there in 2006 and my love of Italian opera, Since then my wife and I have visited somewhere in Italy every year. I have bought numerous Course books, Grammar books etc and studied with BUSUU, ILUSS and Michel Thomas. They were costly and very hard to understand which made studying, at times, hard to look forward to. This led to me ignoring the language to follow other pursuits. Then I found DUOLINGO and for the last 78 days I have learned more Italian than I would have ever believed. The Subjects covered and the Lessons in each, plus extremely useful Tips and Notes have made studying a pleasure. I have learned more about Verb Moods and Tenses than in any of the other Courses put together.. I have not always agreed with some Duolingo translations but that is only a minor criticism. I have just finished my Skill Tree and reached 50% Fluency. I shall continue to study each day and enjoy improving my knowledge of the language. My wife started the Course this week. Thank you Duolingo for providing an excellent Italian Language Course free of charge. May you go from strength to strength.

That's amazing. I am learning French on Duolingo whilst taking a 12 week French Beginner's course at a school. I have also taken out all of my french course books from the attic and for the first time ever I am actually using the books properly. Before I just used them occasionally (hence why they were in the attic). Duolingo has made the process of me learning French fun and now I have great pleasure in reading the course books along with Duolingo.
