I'd suggest allowing "I am the head of the information bureau". "Information bureau" to me seems more common usage in British English than "Information desk" in any situation where the place in question is large enough to warrant a head.
It's accepted, but only with "the". Just to say that it's probably just as common nowadays to say "I am head of ...", which was my natural reaction. Sorry to be a pain.
