The Greek course has graduated from Beta!

The Greek course is now "stable"!

We, the Greek team, would like to thank all of you 217,000 learners and give a big hug to those that patiently contributed to the improvement of this course through comments, feedback and reports. Without you, we couldn't have reached this point by now. Thanks again for helping us out!
We would also like to thank all those members that contributed to the course but are no longer part of the team, with a special thanks to Theo_Matrakas, who has been a major contributor that has lead us through this challenging Beta stage.

The course may be "stable" now, but there are still many improvements to be made and things to be done! We ask all of you to continue giving feedback and pinpointing mistakes so that it becomes even better and learner-friendly.

Thank you, your congratulations also make us humble.

I also wish the teams for Hungarian, Hebrew and Romanian, that they are making progress.
Do not doubt the work that it also takes, to maintain a course.

And that it is never a destination that you reach, and hang up your boots and say there is nothing more to do.

It is one of those never ending stories. The inspiring ones. And one - where the more you learn, the more know there is to learn. Which makes your life life richer, and opens doors to amazing places.

I hope you enjoy this journey - and share with us also your inspirational moments of language learning.

Many people out there started Greek and found it too difficult, so they stopped. It is a pity to see so many learners registered and stop learning after meeting the first difficulty. To master a language like Greek is an effort that is worthwhile. Greek is not just another language after all. I don't mean that every language has not her value. It is a language that still gives words to science. Flexible enough and with a long history. I feel lucky that it is my native language. I wish many more could understand better Greek. Can Duolingo make people love a language? I think, yes.

For the native speakers here is a duty to keep the interest sustained. How can it be? Answering to questions, giving resources for learning further. Motivation as contests, groups and classes. There are many! It is up the imagination of each one that can add more.

Any question, even the simplest one, even the silliest one has its value. We learn from our mistakes. And strengthening. An effort that it is endless, nobody, even the native speakers don't know everything. A simple tree can be finished, but there are many more to get learned.

This app is a machine. But people around make it alive. As a language is. I hope the Greek team will keep existing in the future, as the tree can improved, supervising and even correcting or enriching.

Duolingo managed what no teacher of Greek for non-Greek speakers managed so far. It involved people to the Greek language. Even to the alphabet, a real obstacle to them, it is something.

This is very important!

February 15, 2017

https://www.duolingo.com/Dimitra956826

February 16, 2017

https://www.duolingo.com/Nod84

A Bientôt !!

I assure you the journey to get here - well - it has required enormous dedication by people of our team who have given of their skill, ability and heart and time to get to here.

And yet - just as with any parent - our job is never done. For we have so much still to maintain and develop. And our team - is one that strives and survives to continue to reach this perfection we desire.

Thank you for celebrating with us - this mile stone in our course !

:) The ways of Duolingo are indeed mysterious ;P

Perhaps that is also part of reason of the story that engages us.
However - it is the quality of the community that I still think is the most stella thing about Duolingo.
Yes - I do really like our courses. However it is you - our community - that are the real stars.
Thank you especially for when you choose to show kindness and tolerance and assistance in your interactions with others.

Thank you also for when you go above that - and reach out and assist with the language learning of another person in our community.

Those that do that - you are the heart and the soul of the wealth that is Duolingo.

It's a tremendous achievement to constantly improve the Gk language course. I joined DL after the Gk course graduated from Beta and find it very helpful. I notice that the Spanish course has stories. I wish the Gk also had stories. Maybe that is coming. Thanks for all your work.
