Surprisingly Easy

Esperanto is surprisingly easy! I thought it was going to be harder since it is made up of different languages(I think). More people should try it out

I've never been able to learn the European languages. Whether because of conjugation (I HATE memorizing verb conjugations), or lack of motivation, or whatever. However, learning Esperanto has boosted my motivation to learn a European language, and I'm steadily working my way through the Swedish tree now. It's amazing how many new vocab I can easily guess because they sound so similar to an Esperanto word.

I think you have hit on why I believe Esperanto should be the FIRST second language taught in schools. Your first second language is the most difficult. The third second language is easier! We want students to get to calculus, but you start with the easy math. Why do we START with languages which are incredibly difficult?

I agree. Esperanto is actually my third language, and Swedish is my fourth. Oddly enough, I've never had any problems learning Asian languages - I'm ILR 3/3/3 in Korean, and when I lived in Japan I could get by in Japanese. But European languages have always been difficult for me.

Ohhh yes, it is made easy which makes it very attractive to learn! I'm glad you took up Esperanto but keep in mind that it still requires studying and learning rules. Wish you best of luck and lots of fun :)
