Duolingo is the most popular way to learn languages in the world. Best of all, it's 100% free!

An idea for a new settings feature for Duolingo.

I think it would be nice if Duolingo had a feature under settings where you could set the type of lessons you wanted to practice with. Right now, there are lessons where you have to speak into a microphone, translate back and forth, select the correct translation for a list of possible choices, select the correct conjugation, etc. I could see Duolingo adding a feature in settings somewhere where there is a list of check boxes so you can turn off/on the different types of lessons. This would be nice because, say for example, I want to practice speaking, I could turn everything off except the lesson type where I have to talk into my microphone. I'm a native English speaker studying Spanish and I would also like to get more practice translating from an English prompt into Spanish because it's harder and I feel like I learn better this way because I have to really learn the grammar and practice applying it. I would like to be able to practice with this type of lesson exclusively too. I do like how the types of lessons are random though and I would still keep most of the boxes checked most of the time, but I think it would be a nice feature to be able to choose. What do you think?

I think that it's a really cool idea and it'd be great for the users too.

That would be an excellent feature. I will of course disable anything other than typing exercises if and when this becomes possible!

Maybe, but if you're talking in a real country, you're not going to be just talking or just listening, for example.

This is true, but I think having a feature like this would allow someone to customize their lessons to their individual weaknesses.
