Duolingo is the most popular way to learn languages in the world. Best of all, it's 100% free!

Translating articles

I've been away from duolingo for about a year or so. Back when I used to be on, there was a function that allowed several people to translate a document. Is that function still on the site? It's changed a bit since I was last on and the buttons are a bit different.

No, sadly, Immersion has been removed.

Yes, sadly. The weird thing is Duolingo hasn't removed translation tiers which make people ask about them.

Many people worked hard for those translation tiers. I doubt it takes up too many resources to allow them to stay. The answer to the translation tier question can easily be found on the wiki and and a quick search so the problem is that people ask questions without looking first. Removing the tiers won't help that problem.

Perhaps only make translation tiers visible, if the person viewing the profile also has translation tiers.

I think they should've kept it. Translating articles is something that really helps to learn a language because it helps you see how people communicate.

That was called Immersion, and it was removed.

I was on Duolingo briefly two years ago, and I enjoyed the immersion. It was really fun to attempt translation, with the dictionary, of course. The immersion was the best part. Without it, the forum is sort of empty. It's not really a chat room (never used those) and it's not really skype or a conversion gateway. Why did they remove it? Same reason I haven't had a cell phone since 2012? hacking? Same reason I didn't have email from 2014-Nov 2016? Hacking?

If you don't mind sullying your brain by reading the source material. Though I suppose it might be funny to see the result of subjecting their bile to translation by incompetent committee.
