Updated Community Guidelines
I did a search and I don't think the English forum received a heads up that Duolingo has updated the Community Guidelines. However, the Vietnamese moderator pmyt has kindly provided a copy of the updated portion for the Vietnamese forum.
You can use the link above to read the guidelines in complete. Or, you can read just the updated portion here.
Thank you pmyt! :)
"We will not tolerate..."
... Judging by how long does it take to follow through with the threat, it's either pretty empty or simply an alternative threat :-/
@HalJam, there does indeed appear to be some kind of glitch. For moderators, deleted comments appear in two versions: 1) Message marked simply as [Deleted], or 2) "Grey text". An example of grey text is jackelliot's comment. I have removed the actual text of the message for privacy. But, the username is still "greyed" and only mods and staff can see it. As you can see from the screen print below, yours show up with your name and neither of the two situations described above. I have no idea what might have caused this twice for you.
Now that you've shared those other details, I have come across a similar situation once before for someone else. (Although, instead of a single discussion, they were unable to post in the Dutch forum or sentence discussions, but could post everywhere else.) Their situation also righted itself eventually. However, I have the highest level mod console and there is nothing on it that enables me or any other mod to ban someone from a single conversation but not other conversations. So, I'm stumped. :(
There are currently loads of glitches on DL.
- There are discussions that are accessible for others (since people comment on it), but when I click on it I get a 404 error.
- Similar, there are discussions that I can access, but I cannot see the posts of all people. I am a moderator so normally I can see everything, also if a comment has been deleted by someone or another moderator. Plus on their profiles it's clearly visible that they left a comment.
- And similar to what is described here I've seen plenty of cases where it appears that someone has left an empty comment. Or at least to me it appears that they are empty.
I've been getting those 404s lately too... A few times it has been for discussions in the popular tab. I wrote it off as something that was probably only happening for me that would end up righting itself. I didn't realize it was happening outside of just my account. Thanks for the heads up!
As for empty comments, I've seen one here or there once is a big while. But not t happening several times in a row for a single person. If you get more info, please message me via stream?
