When you finish a review, there's a very handy button labeled "practice again" in the corner. I've never pressed it, though, because I'm uncertain about one critical aspect of it. If I'm doing general strengthening, will "practice again" have me redoing the unit(s) that I just did, or will it continue having me strengthen whatever needs it the most, taking into account the review that I just did? E.g. if the "strengthen skills" button has me strengthen the "past perfect" and "sizes" units, and I choose to "practice again," will I do those skills over again, even though they might be gold now?

It will only strengthen your skills, but in order for them to stay gold, you would need to keep strengthening them again (❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ stubborn skills).

There is a very simple way too find out the answer to your question hehe... just press the button and see what happens :p

I use the "Strengthen Skills" button to keep my tree golden and when I have successfully gilded a skill again and press 'practice again' it continues with the next one which is due. However if you went to the skill first and then chose "Strengthen Skill XY" pressing the "practice again" button off course will redo the one you just did.

I could've just pressed it, but if it was gonna give me the same stuff when those skills were already gold, it would've thrown off my rhythm :-P Figured it was better to ask. Plus, now if anyone else has my question, they might see this discussion and your response, and they'll know as well.

Thanks for the response; I figured that was probably the case, but again - figured it was better to ask. Now I know, and can be slightly more efficient with my time.

As far as I have noticed, with the Strengthening Skills option, you do not just repeat the lessons you just did. I use the skill strengthening in general just to practice everything I've learned so far in a language, even if all my circles are yellow. Try out the timed practices. They're fun, but they can also be challenging. For both the timed and non-timed practices, you get points which go toward your XPs for the day. In my case, I found that through doing either timed or non-timed practices, there are a surprising number of words I had not retained, even though all my circles are yellow and I'm supposed to know the material.

I'm actually not a huge fan of timed practice, mostly because I'm a bit obsessive about having a nice round experience score. So if I come out of a timed practice with 17 points, I have to go back in again and get 13 or 3, which I'm sure messes up Duo's algorithm for figuring out what needs strengthening.

That's just me, though.
