trying to do duolingo every day.
every time i try to do this every day so i can be fluent in Spanish, the farthest i get is at least three days, then i forget about it for about a week, i always have something on my mind so i forget easily, or i lose my notebook i right in, any advise?
If you are forgetting about it for a whole week, it doesn't sound like it is so important for you. To remember to do something the best way is to do it as a ritual: everyday before you go to bed/after breakfast/whenever you have free time everyday.
Yes, i understand! Especially the notebook part lol. I recommend putting a reminder on your phone (assuming you have one) or placing a stick note reminding you on/near you laptop/computer. The sticky note helps me. :)
Notebook? Why do you need a notebook.? I suggest trying to practice at the same time every day. I try to always do at least one exercise right after I get into bed and before I turn the TV on
You can set email reminders for any language practice. Hover over "Elmentara" in the top bar, click on Settings. On the right, click on Notifications. Scroll down and make sure
Email me when I forgot to practice Spanish by 1pm is checked. You can also change the time the email is sent. Have fun learning! =)
For me, I normally use my computer every day. So I ask myself, "Why not do something productive?" Then, I always to a quick lesson on Duolingo to keep up my streak.
For me(lol), I try to get my schoolwork done before lunch. And yes, I am a homeschooler. So when I get "bored", I want to do something fun and I go do Duolingo.
Maybe you can stick a sticky note on your bedroom door and everytime you go in you will see it and remember.
If you like songs, download songs on your phone or something. But they have to be in spanish! Mabe you will remeber to practice. It really helped word-wise.
It took me a while to get 'into' Duolingo, too. Now I try to start every day with a few flashcard reviews and at least one lesson, enough to keep my streak going. (It'd be nice if doing flashcards kept your streak going, btw.)
Once you get a few Lingots built up, you can buy a streak freeze in case there's a day when you just can't get online. (I did that on Super Bowl Sunday, for example.)
For me, the best time to do things is to do it in the morning. For me, if I do it in the morning before I go to work, then it's going to be done. My schedule varies after work, but I like doing the things I want to get done as a high priority, and doing things in the morning really signifies that to me. Honestly, I haven't done Duolingo only in the morning, but now I feel like I'm in a habit, and I really want to continue the momentum of having a streak.
Also, it really helps when I go to bed early so that I can really start my day right.
One of my friends one time asked someone who was wanting to be successful in life one question: "When do you go to bed at night and when do you wake up?"
Having a schedule is important in achieving goals...I want to be more serious about having a schedule this year as I try to achieve more of my goals.
If something is important to you won't forget it. Don't use a notebook. Tell yourself you'll remember and you will, though you'll still have to practice. A man who only walks with crutches never learns to walk without.
