"Sili Takataka" would be a cool name for a punk rock band. ;D

It's a very intuitive word for 'garbage' ;)

In the expanded lion king universe, before scar got his scar, his name was taka.

In Mexico Takataka is a somewhat ethnic slur applied to east asian people. It is also the name of a toy that sounds like takatakatakataka....

I can't help but wonder whether there's any connection between this word and the Thai Tuk Tuk.

I'm going to say with almost absolute certainty that there isn't. There's neither any obvious semantic connection or a significant flow of words between Thai and Swahili. Tuk-tuk is apparently onomatopoeic, from the engine sound of a tuk-tuk ...

Both having a "t" sound and a "k" sound, as well as reduplication, is essentiall nothing.

I'm also pretty certain it's not related to "tick-tock".
