Duolingo demands greek letters with accents that are not on my microsoft keyboard.

I cannot answer questions required to write in greek as the letters required are not included in my microsoft greek keyboard. Result I cannot progress. Duolingo will not let me move on and ignore the question!! Any ideas?

I don't know what keyboard you've got but, on mine, you press the semicolon before typing the vowel and the accent magically appears.

I think that might be his/her solution also, as maybe not tried this semicolon typing before. Can you try? Because I know some other language with diacritics and using Microsoft keyboard where a similar approach is used.

The semicolon becomes a dead key which will put an accent on the next letter if it is a vowel.

There you go:

http://www.lexilogos.com/english/greek_dictionary.htm

  1. write there (click on the Greek characters on the right)
  2. then copy / paste it into Duolingo.

  3. Optionally: Further tip: split your screen in 2 parts so that you see all in one view.

E.g. right the Greek online keyboard, and left your Duolingo.

What I do to quickly split is press the 'Window' key, then press the 'left' arrow. That will move your current window to exactly the half of the left screen. Similarly press 'Window' key + right arrow to move the other window to the right part of the screen. Then you can easily write, copy / paste from the one to the other window.

What I do is memorize the symbols and everything so that I know what I'm translating, then I just use Google Translate for the symbols.

All you need to do is get the Greek keyboard which all computers have. Look at the post just above yours and you will see different ways to do it. When you have the keyboard come back and we'll explain how to do the accents. It's very easy just two keys to type.
