I think it has a very bland taste, so you haven't missed much. But the fruits hang directly from the stem of the tree, which I find very fascinating.

It's delicious, at least the dried papaya. If it's not dried the taste can be a bit weak.

At least when imported to Norway. We can't grow our own.
