I just discovered something I didn't know before and this information is hopefully helpful to other Duolingo users. If you click on the Words tab in the blue bar at the top of your screen, it'll list all the words you've learned so far. The words all have a dotted line underneath them. If you click on any one of those words, it'll pop up on the right side of your screen. You'll have the option of hearing the pronunciation of that word again and it'll list the lesson in which you first learned that word. Click on that lesson name, and it'll actually take you back to the lesson itself. Lower down (on the right side of your screen), it'll say 'more details' and if you click on that, you'll see the word used in a sentence. If you've forgotten the conjugation of a certain verb and you want to know it again, click on that verb in your Words list, then click on 'more details' and the conjugation table pops up.
Note: the Words tab is not available in all languages Duolingo offers for learning.

There are workarounds for that.

Q. How to see the hidden 'Words' tab?

A.

The 'Words' tab is hidden in some courses.

If you want to view it, here is a little trick:

Steps:

  • 1) Go to a course with a 'Words' tab (French for example, otherwise only one of the following will work: German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish).
  • 2) Open a new tab (in your (e.g. Chrome) web browser), go to http://www.duolingo.com and switch to a language course without the 'Words' tab (e.g. Polish).
  • 3) Go back to the first tab in your browser (French) and click on the 'Words' tab (do not reload the page).
  • 4) You should see the word list of the Polish course or any other course you switched in the step 2.
  • 5) This trick is not persistent, when you want to use the "Words" tab you have to follow this steps every time.

OK, I will remove the URL to comment 21034166 as this is the best workaround. This HTTP error 404 'page not found' happens a lot of times. I still see that post but you do seemingly not. That happens sometimes.

But if you are getting the error 404 by following the steps 1 to 5, please let me know.

But if you did got this error by clicking on the URL then see my other response.

Let me check it here...

OK, checked on both Chrome and Firefox here and both worked OK (using thus French and Dutch as example).

So try this:

1) Try another browser. E.g. Chrome

2) Then open that browser again (so not other tabs) are shown

3) If still 404 error then it is a local issue: Or something with your computer. Or it is an issue with the Duolingo server you are contacting (because there are more than 1 servers around).

Only one of the following will work: German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, and English. ;)

I'm taking English for Spanish speakers to get more practice now that I've completed Spanish for English speakers, and it has a "Palabras" (Spanish for "Words") option. :)

You're welcome! See also other users comments above on how to access the Words list in languages that do not have one.
