I was taught "maharagwe" in college. Also, I think "mama" should be an accepted translation in addition to "mother"

Yeah, in Kenya most people I met said maharagwe. Evidently, this is of Persian rather than Arabic origin.

Mama was added as a solution on another translation exercise after I reported it so I guess we'll just have to wade through all of these situations and mend them one by one. Because Mama is worth it!
