Books in translation

.

Sometimes a classic in one language

takes forever to be translated

here is a book that I enjoyed

it was written in dutch

just after the second world war

but only now in English.

Are there any classics

that deserve to be translated?

I've heard somewhere that Dutch is a simple version of German. Is it a good language to learn? How difficult it is?

Well, try out Dutch here on Duolingo and you'll find out if it's difficult or easy for you. If you end up not liking it, you can always remove it from your language course list. And I don't know where you heard that Dutch is a simple version of German, but that is simply not true.

I own a copy of "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" in Dutch. :) I haven't read it yet though. And I guess it's not really a classic.

An interesting view on how we use the word "classic"

I heard some one say that they read "A Tale of Two Cities" in it's original language. Of course, Charles Dickens was English!
