The preposition (?) 'la'

Could anyone give me insight into how 'la' is used? I've seen it in example sentences such as Juma ni jina la Mtanzania (?), translating to 'Juma is the name of the Tanzanian". Is there a reason I cannot write 'na' there?

Thank you!

As you know, there are noun classes. Each noun class has its own prefixes that modify adjectives and stuff. Each noun class also has a way of using the preposition "it".

La means "of". In other noun classes "of" is *wa, ya, za, pa, vya, kwa, cha, and mwa". For a link to with noun class uses which one click here
