Why did YOU join duolingo?
I joined duolingo because my mom liked it and wanted me to learn german. x3
I had a friend two years ago who was using it to learn Italian. I wanted to see what languages they offered and ended up learning Italian as well (I used to be very good at it, now I forgot a lot so I reset the tree) and then three finished threes later and a ton of languages here I am.
When I started homeschooling, my Mom thought me and my brother could learn another language, because it looks good on your resume, so I'm learning french, and he is learning German
I choose Duo because I've had a passion for Language learning since i was 7, so when i found out about Duo in 2015, i was hooked :)
I joined, because I switched to homeschool and wanted to continue learning french. Also this is a great Discussion topic! Love it! Have a lingot
I joined because I used to want to learn French because I didn't know what to major in in college/university so I thought I'd major in it and use Duolingo to help... But then I changed my mind because I didn't want to spend money on a degree just to have a degree. Sooo now I only care about learning Korean, so waiting on that now. I've switched languages a lot on here, and experimented with languages on other sources and classes, but Korean's all I want to learn. Easier to focus on one language, too and know I won't have to worry about the struggle of doing another one later.
It feels like the only language that really clicks into my head as one that I like and that I can more easily pick words from audio rather than Japanese or Spanish.
I'm homeschooled, so my mother was the one to decide that I should start learning a foreign language in seventh grade. I wanted to learn Scottish Gaelic. She wanted me to learn Spanish. We settled on French as a compromise. I stuck around here because I realized there were so many other tantalizing languages I could learn--and because I'm still hoping that Duo will offer Gaidhlig someday!
I joined because a friend invited me to use Duolingo when she heard I wanted to learn Welsh. The only language I'm learning outside this website is Latin.
Two years ago my Dad told me to join. I always liked learning languages. My Dad joined too.
I joined because I love discovering and Learning foreign languages and that is a very good way to learn the basics!
I woke up one day and say both of mys sisters using it. I thought I should try it out after all I had been wanting to learn French anyway. After a week or two for reasons I can't remember I switched to German and never looked back.
I joined because I started dating a Hispanic guy and his mother doesn't speak English but now I am super interested in it and becoming fluent for my career in the future
I started using Duolingo because my Spanish teacher had recommended it to use for extra credit, and turns out, I use it all the time because I really like the way it works. :) I have never been able to learn anything so easily! I am very thankful for this site, and how it doesn't cost a thing. No catch, no ads. :)
I saw DuoLingo mentioned on the blog Fluentin3month and took a look at it. When I saw that they were developing courses for Romanian and Russian, I joined. To kill time while I waited for those courses to graduate, I started other trees, and here I am three years later!
My daughter's learning German at school. She's in P2, and if she's learning, then her mummy should be able to help her with her homework.
Member of a Spanish "MeetUp" group in my area suggested it.
It has helped as, especially on the phone app, I get work with reading, writing, listening and speaking
I joined because I wanted to learn norsk so I can live in Norway like the Vikings, and I love the guttural sounds of the language itself. I wanted to get some books at the library on it but couldn't find any then my friend recommended duolingo and I love it.
